A Primer on Cavities and How to Handle Them
As you might imagine, everybody’s cavities are different. Some might be big, small, dark, light. This procedure typically takes anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour but, of course, that time will vary depending on the size and location of the cavity.
A filling is a common dental procedure that is often used to repair teeth that are chipped or decayed on one, two or three surfaces when damage is mild to moderate.
While fillings are a great way to repair mild to moderate damage, more significant damage may require the use of an onlay or full coverage crown.
What You Can Expect at South High Dental
At SHD, we use only the highest grade materials for our fillings. You can trust that our highly-trained, board-certified doctors, hygienists and assistants will take great care of you while you are getting a filling. We don’t put the black, old-fashioned filling in anymore – those have mercury in them. We use mercury-free white fillings.
We will gently numb the tooth so you can relax and not feel a thing. Next, we will take out the decay and then rebuild the tooth good as new with white filling material.
Once the filling is complete, your doctor and assistant will smooth and shine the filling, making sure the fit is perfect.
If necessary, we’ll also offer pills you can take by mouth to relax you and keep you at ease during your procedure. In just one appointment, your tooth will be ready to go, and you can be on your way and back to normal, happy and cavity-free in no time.
Putting off a filling will only allow tooth decay to deepen and further damage your tooth. We know that time or how you feel can sometimes be a concern when it comes to dental treatment. At South High Dental, we make things as convenient and comfortable as possible.
